The man has a bad reputation of memory, such as forgetting to put the car keys, forgetting a birthday or other anniversary. Why do men have a bad memory?
Some things can make a person easy to forget, like too much of information received by the brain, the presence of disease or other conditions resulting forget. Medically, forget a person's inability to express what is in memory of his brain.
Based on research from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, presented at the annual conference of the American Academy of Neurology 60th in Chicago said the man had more memory problems and other cognitive disorders, especially if you are elderly.
"We found the prevalence of mild cognitive impairment is higher in men than women, therefore men 1.6 times more likely to experience cognitive problems or memory disorders," said Rosebud Roberts, MD, a professor of epidemiology at the Mayo Clinic, such as quoted from WebMD, Tuesday (04/01/2011).
Roberts said that due to this mild cognitive impairment, men tend to be more likely to have problems with memory, decision making, problem solving and language problems as difficult to find the right words.
Reporting from Scientificamerican, there are two types of memory:
Short-term memory (working memory), which contains information about things that go through and think about today. Someone will be very focused on details of current thoughts.
Long-term memory, containing information stored in the brain and usually contains information in the past. If someone is experiencing something in the past 20 years, he may be able to remember it but could not provide details in detail.
Some people have a remarkable ability to remember and seemed never to forget anything. But there is also someone who is easy to forget due to the inability of the brain memory to store information in the long term.
